Dealing with Negativity

Negativity is like that annoying family member that always brings up your faults rather than praises you for your merits. Negativity will knock you down before you even try to get up. It can hinder you from accomplishing your goals, kill your dreams, and limit your potential to be the best version of you that you can be. Negativity is the thing that holds you back from living your best life.

The smartest thing you can do is block it all out. If you have a dream that you want to come true, why can’t it? Don’t let the opinions of others or even your own self-doubt stop you from going after what you know deep down should be yours. If you love to do something or enjoy going somewhere, don’t let someone else’s dislike for it stop you from enjoying it! Also, don’t let your own inhibitions stop you from getting out in the world and making the most of all it has to offer!

A lot of the time, a person’s negativity stems from problems in their own life, and haven’t you ever heard the phrase, “misery loves company” from someone? Don’t let someone else’s bad vibes rub off on you. The best thing you can do is try to send some good vibes their way.

If you’re the Negative Nancy in your life, you should focus on putting your energy into turning things around for the better. If you don’t like the way your life is going, change it instead of dwelling on all the things that’s wrong with it. You’d be surprised how your outlook on life can change when you start working toward the good stuff rather than worrying about all the bad stuff.

I am by no means an optimist, and I find myself often being the Negative Nancy in my own life. I’m more of a realist if anything. I know it takes mental effort to focus on the positives when you’re not naturally Positive Patty, but you’ll love life a lot more if you just try. Food for thought.

Until next time, je m’en vais!
