Trends are just one of those things that keeps fashion interesting to the masses. People always want to be up on what’s in, but I’m so tired of being ON TREND! Okay, in 2018, we’ve had to deal with the ugly sneaker trend (thanks a lot Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton -_-), the Dior Saddle bag, which had a MAJOR moment on Instagram (destroying a classic), and stinky PVC shoes that cut off blood circulation. How about we all wear what we want to rather than what we think we should based on what everyone else is doing?
Okay, as a fashion girl, I know it’s nearly impossible to never be at least kind of on trend, especially when you’re buying new clothes. However, if you’re layering every spring/summer trend on before you leave the house, you need to be stopped! Don’t get me wrong; I dabble in trends. I like to know what the hot new thing is, but I don’t believe in allowing that to bog down my own sense of style.
Some trends can become your staple forever, or it could be something you try out for tomorrow. It does not matter. What does matter is when we find ourselves all looking the same (*cough* fashion bloggers *cough*). Wear what you feel! Oh, you heard platforms were out, so you can’t wear them? WRONG. Fashion is supposed to be fun and meant for self expression.
I’d just like to say that I am not “hating” on the trends I mentioned (only side-eyeing ugly sneakers and fogged-up boots from a distance). If you like it, wear it! If you love it, who can tell you it’s wrong?
Until next time, je m’en vais!
P.S. I still want the Dior Saddle bag…just not right now.
